The Chapel has such significance in the history of Rowe Camp. It would be impossible to say how many campers have sat in that Chapel over the years, how many weddings and memorial services have taken place, how many lives have been touched and changed. But I don?t need to tell you that. You know from first hand experience.

As we approach the 100th anniversary of the building of this sacred space, it is only fitting that we express our love for the spirit of the Chapel and our appreciation for the many ways in which it has touched and shaped our lives, by restoring it to the condition it was in when it was first built. What a wonderful way to honor it and to honor your Rowe experience. Together we can do it. We invite all of you whose lives have been touched by this spirit to be a part of this effort.

In the next few weeks you may be called by one of 15 alums who have agreed to take a leadership role in this project. You will be invited to make a monthly pledge to the Chapel for the next 30 months. Small monthly payments are easy for everyone and each month, when you receive your bank statement, you will be reminded of your connection to Rowe. Many people already do this and it is quite painless. Of course one time gifts are also welcome.

This is the largest camper project we have ever done. We will be reaching out to campers from the sixties right through today. So answer that call and if you don't hear from us it may mean that we don't have your phone number. E-mail me or call me with it and I will have someone contact you. The camp community members making the calls are:

Beth Berrien

Jen Deaderick

Simon Delekta

Sharyn DiGeronimo

Alison Granucci

Kieran Lally

Sam Lee

Felicity Pickett

Maggie "Missi" Salzberg

Bob Scheier

Karen Lee Shelley

Bob,

Thank you for calling me!! You inspired me to reconnect with my distant past. You also did me the favor of helping me spend my money on something so worthwhile: preparing the Rowe Chapel for the next 100 years. I'm glad to know I could contribute to that effort. Looking over the website, I was touched by the constancy of the Rowe Spirit. What an oasis and what a gift. It's high time I return. I hope to see you and other Roweies again soon. Thanks again.

Carrie

I just walked back from the Chapel. The roofers are putting the final touches on a brand new roof. Three layers of old shingles were taken off, a new layer of plywood and 50 year shingles were installed. They also put new copper edging, which is brightly shining in the sun today. The total project cost $28,000. Most of that was raised from last year's phone-a-thon and the balance came from the Derby/oden Chapel fund.

The next project is to rewire the whole electical system. If you would like to help with this project either through a donation or by making calls to alumni from your era that didn't get called last year, please let me know. And much thanks to all of you who gave to this project through phone calling, donating or pledging gifts, or both.

Felicity

Hello,

I am attempting to contact a Karen (Kaminsky) Traub who graduated from West Chester State College (PA) in 1972. I was a friend way back then, and it has been pretty darned long since I last spoke with her. If this is not the correct website, would you have any suggestions? Thanks.

Carrie,

I did not see your post until now. It was a real pleasure talking with you. It warms my heart to know you are reconnecting as I have. I hope to run into you sometime. --Bob

Hello,

This is just a follow up to a posting of Nov 10,2004.

Does anyone know where I can obtain a copy of The Legend of the Purple Bishop? The legend has been told for many generations in my family. However, the legend told today does not resemble the version, I remember as a child.

Can any one assist me, in my quest to locate THE LEGEND OF THE PURPLE BISHOP?
